Explanation
BACKGROUND
This ordinance authorizes the Administrative and Presiding Judge of the Franklin County Municipal Court to accept a grant in the amount of $421,126.00 from the federal Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, and to appropriate the total amount of the grant from the unappropriated balance of the general government grant fund to the Franklin County Municipal Court.
This funding is provided through The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program award. This funding will support and enhance the Franklin County Municipal Court Mental Health Specialized Docket (LINC) programs by providing an additional Coordinator position to the LINC Program, continuation funding for a Peer Support Specialist to the be assigned to LINC and promote strategies, interventions, assessment tools, and services for Specialized Docket participants. It is anticipated that approximately 350-400 participants will be served by these programs.
Emergency Legislation is requested so that the grant funds can be utilized as soon as possible, to assist the mental health specialized docket, thereby preserving the public health, peace, safety, and welfare.
FISCAL IMPACT
$421,126.00 will be expended from the General Government Grant Fund.
