Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into grant agreements with various community organizations in support of human service programs:
· Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center - Senior Supportive Services - $50,000.00
· Huckleberry House: Awareness Campaign and Shelter Upgrade - $72,300.00
Fiscal Impact: Funding for these grant agreements is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.
Emergency action is requested to immediately provide resources necessary to sustain human services programming within vulnerable Columbus communities.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to enter into grant agreements with Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center and Huckleberry House in support of human services programs; to authorize an appropriation and expenditure within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund; and to declare an emergency. Body
WHEREAS, this past year has underscored the critical role community services play in supporting the social well-being of vulnerable populations and communities; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in disproportionate negative economic impacts in communities of color and low-income communities across the nation. These communities are experiencing overwhelming barriers to access basic needs like food, supplies and shelter during the pandemic; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize the Director of the Department of Development to enter into grant agreements with Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center and Huckleberry House; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Director to enter into grant agreements with various community organizations to sustain human services programming; now, therefore,
