Council Member Nick Bankston, Chair of the Economic Development & Small and Minority Business Committee will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed renewals for 5 Special Improvement Districts (SIDs) within the city. A SID is a physical area in which property owners elect to pay an additional assessment in order to fund public improvements and services that benefit the district. This hearing will cover the boundary and service plan proposals from each of the 5 SIDs, recommendations from the Department of Development regarding these proposals, and a timeline for consideration of the various pieces of legislation needed for renewal. The 5 SIDs being discussed are the 5th and 4th Street Special Improvement District, Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District, Discovery Special Improvement District, Franklinton Special Improvement District and the University District Special Improvement District.

Any resident wishing to provide testimony during the hearing should email Jonathan Brown at jbbrown@columbus.gov or fill out a speaker slip in-person by 12:00pm on the day of the hearing to request a WebEx panelist link and/or speaking instructions. Each speaker will be limited to remarks lasting no longer than three minutes.
