7.18.2025, 1pm, Columbus City Hall, 90 W Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215
On Friday July 18th, CM Bankston chaired the first public hearing for the proposed 2025 Capital Improvements Budget and Capital Improvements Program. This hearing covered the full capital budget at a high level and highlighted several large projects across the city for each department. The departments that presented are Finance, Public Service, Development, Columbus Water and Power, Public Safety and Rec and Parks.

The Capital Improvements Program (CIP) is a six-year planning document for future capital projects throughout the city. The CIP does not authorize spending, but rather is a resolution passed by City Council. The Capital Improvements Budget (CIB) serves as the basis for all budgeting and spending related to capital projects throughout the city for the ensuing year. The CIB is a one-year budget authorized via an ordinance passed by City Council. The CIB is also included as the first year within the six-year CIP. Both the CIB and the CIP provide a breakdown of the various capital projects by department and by source of funding. This year’s $2.9 billion Capital Improvements Budget proposal includes funding for affordable housing, street resurfacing, sidewalks, new Marion Franklin and Tuttle pools, recreation center enhancements and utility enhancements and more.

The full proposed budget, and forthcoming details on the community education sessions, are available at www.Columbus.gov/capital.
