The Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission's Communications, Outreach, & Community Engagement Committee met on Wednesday, July 1 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at 750 E Long St, 3rd Floor.
Commissioners present: Boyd-Nelson, Keilholz, and Crenshaw
Commissioner absent: Cogar (excused)
Meeting was called to order at 5:22 p.m.
Chair Keilholz identified themes heard during the listening session
Suggestion to write up a plan to reach more people which includes listening sessions in diverse geographic and social locations across the city
The committee may consider topics for future listening sessions.
The committee discussed partnering with organizations throughout the year.
The committee discussed ways to be visible in the community such as shirts and business cards; Raven (city staff) has volunteered to help with business cards.
The committee will set up a meeting with Robert Tobias from the city attorney's office to shore up our understanding of social media parameters.
The committee discussed the established statement drafting, approval and release process and whether any improvements can be made.
The committee discussed collaborating with the policy and advocacy committee to be aware of upcoming statement needs.
The committee's next meeting is not yet scheduled.
