Body

The Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission met for its monthly meeting on Wendesday, August 19th at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall, Room 225.

Commissioners present: Chair Roberts-Crews, Vice Chair Savage, Commissioners Keilholz, Lenzo, Saito, Boyd-Nelson, Williamson, Calhoun, Applegate, and Crenshaw

Commissioners absent: Commissioners Cogar and Hollins

The Chair called the meeting to order at approx. 6:00 p.m.

After moving to approve the minutes from the previous meeting, the Commission discussed their media and engagement protocol to determine when and how input from the Commission would be solicited during emergencies and regular press releases.

Then, Marshall Troxell presented on political activity and commission ethics, detailing the legal guidelines that prohibit political activities from the Commission in any official capacity.

Thereafter, the Commission discussed the possibility of contracting with a consultant for support drafting the Commission's annual report, as well as strategic planning and community engagement. The Commission aims to finalize the request for proposals during their next monthly meeting.

Then, the Commission's four standing committees provided brief updates, including proposed meeting cadences, development of a social media plan, and soliciting applications for non-Commissioners to serve on committees.

No public comment was offered or submitted.

The Chair adjourned the meeting at approx. 7:40 p.m.
