Explanation
 
This legislation authorizes the Public Service Director to pay wages to Amber Schramm, a former employee of Public Service, for inadvertently working 6.5 hours more than the allotted 480 hours allowed for limited temporary employees. Ms. Schramm worked 40 hours for the pay period ending May 3, 2008 which put her 6.5 hours more than the allotted 480 hours. She was employed by the Public Service Department, Transportation Division located at 109 N. Front Street. Public Service requests a payment of $137.07 to be made to Ms. Amber Schramm for wages earned by inadvertently working 6.5 hours over the allotted time of 480 hours.
 
Emergency action is requested so Ms. Schramm can be paid her remaining wages in a timely manner.
 
Fiscal Impact:  Funds for this expenditure are from the Transportation Division personnel services portion of the Street Construction Repair and Maintenance Fund budget.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to compensate Amber Schramm for hours worked for the Department of Public Service; and
 
WHEREAS, the hours worked were 6.5 hours more than the allotted total of 480 hours for limited employees; and
 
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the daily operations of the Department of Public Service, in that it is immediately necessary to compensate this former employee for hours already worked for the immediate preservation of public health, peace, property, safety and welfare, now, therefore
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
 
SECTION 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized and directed to compensate Amber Schramm for wages earned for working 6.5 hours over the allotted 480 hours for limited employment for the Public Service Department.
 
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $137.07, or so much therefore as may be necessary be and is hereby authorized and approved as follows:

SECTION 3. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is made part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
