To recognize the Columbus Department of Public Utilities Jackson Pike and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant staffs for winning the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) Gold Peak Performance Award.
 
 
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, the Columbus Department of Public Utilities Jackson Pike and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plants staffs consistently provide excellent wastewater treatment services to customers in Columbus and central Ohio, earning national awards and respect among their peers in the industry; and
 
WHEREAS, each year the NACWA honors wastewater treatment plants nationwide for 100 percent compliance with the facilities' U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits; and
 
WHEREAS, the Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant's 91 dedicated employees won the NACWA's Gold Peak Performance Award for the fourth consecutive year in 2006, presented at NACWA's Annual Summer Conference in July 2007; and
 
WHEREAS, the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant's 98 dedicated employees won the NACWA's Gold Peak Performance Award for the third consecutive year in 2006, also presented at NACWA's Annual Summer Conference in July 2007; and
 
WHEREAS, both the Jackson Pike and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant teams took one step closer to winning NACWA's prestigious Platinum Peak Performance Award for five consecutive Gold Awards; and
 
WHEREAS, the Jackson Pike and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant teams exemplify the Department of Public Utilities' mission to provide economic, efficient and environmentally responsible stewardship of superior public utilities, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring a cleaner and healthier Columbus and central Ohio; now, therefore  
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That the Council of the City of Columbus recognizes the Columbus Department of Public Utilities' Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant leadership and staff for their hard earned and well deserved national recognition for professionalism and for their vigilance in protecting the health of Columbus and central Ohio residents and the environment.
