Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into contract with Eaton Electrical Inc. for the installation of 4.76 Kilovolt vacuum circuit breakers for the Division of Power and Water, Dublin Road Water Plant.

The Public Utilities Department opened formal bids on September 26, 2007 and one (1) bid was received.

Eaton Electrical Inc submitted the sole bid and meets all specifications and requirements of the bid specifications.

Specifications were advertised and five (5) contractors were electronically contacted announcing the solicitation.   All five (5) were majority firms.

FISCAL IMPACT: $54,418.00 is required for this award.  $50,000.00 is the budgeted amount.  Sufficient funds are available for this contract.

To authorize the Director of Public Utilities to establish a contract with Eaton Electrical Inc. for the replacement of 4.76 KV Circuit Breakers for the Division of Power and Water, and to authorize the expenditure of $54,418.00 from the Water System Operating Fund. ($54,418.00)

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Utilities opened formal bids on September 26, 2007 for the replacement of 4.76 KV circuit breakers for the Division of Power and Water, Dublin Road Water Plant, and

WHEREAS, after review of the bid, a recommendation was made to the sole bid received, Eaton Electrical Inc., and

WHEREAS, A contract will be issued in accordance with the terms, conditions and specifications of Solicitation Number: SA002621 on file in the Department of Public Utilities; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

Section 1. That the Director Public Utilities be and is hereby authorized to establish a contract with Eaton Electrical Inc.  for the replacement of 4.76 KV circuit breakers for the Division of Power and Water, in accordance with specifications on file.

Section 2. That the expenditure of $54,418.000 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Water System Operating Funds, Fund No. 600, OCA 602425, Object Level One: 06, Object Level Three: 6651.

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
