To recognize and honor Veterans Day in the City of Columbus, and commend the work of Franklin Veterans Service Commission

Body

WHEREAS, Veterans Day honors the valor, devotion, and sacrifice of all veterans, both in wartime and peacetime; a day when fellow Americans express sincere gratitude for those who chose the path of service by joining the Armed Forces of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus recognizes the challenges and sacrifices veterans faced when they answered the call to be pushed to their limits and shaped into the strongest versions of themselves, mentally and physically, to represent the United States and fight in the name of freedom; and

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus expresses its gratitude to all veterans by supporting organizations that assist their transition to civilian life and empower veterans to thrive in the City of Columbus with equitable assistance; and

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Veterans Service Commission provides assistance and support for veterans and their families in Columbus, recognizing the physical and mental struggles some veterans experience coming home, and understanding the importance of facilitating guidance for veterans so that they can prosper with health and wellness; and

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus appreciates the veteran service specialists at the Franklin County Veterans Service Commission who let veterans know they are not alone and help them navigate Veterans Affairs benefits and programs to provide relief of concerns such as healthcare, financing, housing, employment, rehabilitation, and more; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS,

That this council hereby recognizes Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as Veterans Day in the City of Columbus and commends the dedicated support for veterans from the Franklin County Veterans Service Commission.
