Explanation
Background:  This ordinance authorizes the Franklin County Municipal Court, Clerk of Court ("Municipal Court Clerk) to enter into a one year contact, with four consecutive one year renewal options with CoreVault, Inc. for remote data back-up and recovery services.
These services will provide the Municipal Court Clerk's Office with data back-up, recovery from data loss, and a comprehensive disaster recovery system for viable data restoral.
Bid Information:  The Municipal Court Clerk's Office solicited competitive bids through SA004290; bid opening 3/28/2012.   Proposals were received from three companies.  The proposals were reviewed by a committee of three.  In agreement with the committee, the Municipal Court Clerk awarded the bid to CoreVault, Inc. the overall lowest responsive, and responsible and best bidder.

Whereas, it is necessary to enter into  the first year of the contract with CoreVault, Inc for the provision of remote data back-up and recovery services for the Municipal Court Clerk's Office; and
Whereas,  these services will provide the Municipal Court Clerk's Office with data back up, recovery from data loss, and a comprehensive disaster recovery system for viable data restoral; and
Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the Municipal Court Clerk's Office in that it is immediately necessary to enter into a contract with CoreVault, Inc. for remote data back-up and recovery services for the Municipal Court Clerk's Office, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; now therefore,
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1.  The Municipal Court Clerk is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with CoreVault, Inc. for the provision of remote data back-up and recovery services for the Municipal Court Clerk's Office.
Section 2.  That the expenditure of $86,753.28 or so much thereof as may be needed is hereby authorized to be expended from the Municipal Court Clerk Computer Fund, fund 227, organization 2601, subfund 002, oca code 260208, object level  1 - 03, object level  3 - 3369 - $86,753.28.
Section 3.  That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take in effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
