To authorize an appropriation of $6,852.94, from the unappropriated monies in the Heartmobile Maintenance and Improvement Fund, for the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety, in order to provide funds for continuing education and training materials for medic personnel in the Division of Fire. Explanation
BACKGROUND:
Need:            There is a need to appropriate $6,852.94, from the unappropriated funds in the Heartmobile Maintenance and Improvement Fund. Ordinance No. 163-72 established the Heartmobile Maintenance and Improvement Fund in order to purchase and maintain new training equipment and for the training of personnel to operate such equipment.  The Training Bureau has identified training opportunities for which these funds have been established.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted Amount:            Unencumbered monies exist within the Heartmobile Fund;  monies shall be used for approved training and training equipment.
 
Body
WHEREAS,      the Division of Fire Training Bureau encourages participation in continuing education courses and seminars by medic personnel as technology advances and new protocols dictate that EMS personnel use the most professional methods available; and
 
WHEREAS,      the Division of Fire can utilize the funds in the Heartmobile Maintenance and Improvement Fund for this purpose as set forth in Ordinance No. 163-72; and
 
WHEREAS,      a situation exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire, in that it is necessary to appropriate said funds for the Division of Fire for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, therefore,
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
 
Section 1.      That from the unappropriated cash balance and from any and all sources estimated to come into said fund and unappropriated for any other purpose, the following sums are appropriated to the designated codes in the Public Safety Department 30, Fire Division #30-04, Heartmobile Maintenance and Improvement Fund, Fund #223, Sub-Fund #127, OCA Code 631416 as follows:
·      OL3 Code 2213 - $4,111.76
·      OL3 Code 3336 - $2,741.18
 
Section 2.      That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
