Explanation
BACKGROUND:
 
NEED/BID INFORMATION:  The Fire Division needs to purchase one (1) GMC HD2500 pick-up for towing the Division's Fire Safety Education Vehicle; this legislation authorizes the purchase of said truck from Haydocy Pontiac GMC in accordance with the City of Columbus Light Truck Universal Term Contract established for that purpose.
 
CONTRACT COMPLIANCE:  Contract Compliance for Haydocy Pontiac GMC is 314398091.
 
EMERGENCY PROVISION: This legislation is to be declared an emergency measure due to it being imperative that the purchase order for these vehicles be certified as soon as the legislative process allows to meet manufacturer's deadlines.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:
 
BUDGETED AMOUNT:  Funds are budgeted in the Fire Division's Safety Voted Bond Fund, Apparatus Replacement Project.
 
Body
Whereas, the Fire Division is in need to purchase one (1) GMC HD2500 pick-up truck for towing it's Fire Safety Education Vehicle; and
 
Whereas, the Fire Division is in need to utilize the pricing, terms and conditions of current the City of Columbus Light Truck Universal Term Contract for the purchase of this vehicle; and
 
Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Public Service Department, Fleet Management Division, in that it is immediately necessary to purchase said vehicle, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, therefore;            
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
Section 1.      That the Director of Finance be and is hereby authorized and directed to purchase a GMC HD2500 pick-up truck from Haydocy Pontiac GMC for the Fire Division in accordance with the pricing, terms and conditions of the City of Columbus Universal Term Contract established for that purpose.
 
Section 2.      That the expenditure of $40,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and it is hereby authorized from funds available within the Fire Division (30-04) Safety Voted Bond Fund 701; OCA Code 644559; Apparatus Replacement Project 340101; OL3 Code 6650.
 
Section 3.      That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
