Background: On December 4, 2006, Council approved ordinance 2161-2006 authorizing a three month extension for offsite storage services for the Civil, Criminal, Traffic, and Environmental case files. The Clerk is requesting an expenditure of $25,950.00 for an additional six months of storage services with Fireproof Record Center. The additional time is necessary to assess the future offsite storage needs and funding options for the Franklin County Municipal Clerk's office.
This ordinance authorizes and directs the Franklin County Municipal Clerk to modify and extend the contract with Fireproof Record Center for an additional six months for the provision of offsite storage services needed for storing the Clerk's Civil, Criminal, Traffic, and Environmental files.

Whereas, the additional time is necessary for the Franklin County Municipal Clerk to assess the future offsite storage needs and funding options for the Franklin County Municipal Clerk's office; and
Whereas, the current storage contract expires on March 31, 2007; and
Whereas, it is in the best interest of the City to modify and extend the contract with Fireproof Record Center, pursuant 329.16; and
Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk's office, in that it is immediately necessary to modify and extend said contract with Fireproof Record Center for ongoing and uninterrupted storage services thereby preserving the public health, peace, safety, and welfare; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. The Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk is hereby authorized to modify and extend the contract for six months, commencing April 1, 2007 through September 30, 2007 with Fireproof Record Center for the purchase of offsite storage services.
Section 2. That the expenditure sum of $25,950.00 or so much thereof as may be necessary is hereby authorized to be expended from the Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk's general fund, organization 2601, fund 010, oca code 260117, object level one 03, object level 03: 3336 - $25,950.00.
Section 3. That pursuant to 329.16 of the Columbus City Code, Council finds it in the best interest of the City to modify the contract with Fireproof Record Center.
Section 4. That for reasons stated in the preamble hereto, where is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance hereby declared an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approved by the Mayor, or ten days after the passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
