Vice Chair Role discussion

●                     Vice Chair supports the Chair and assumes Chair’s responsibilities in the event of their absence. This role is highly supportive in nature, but also preparatory for current commission work and future commissions if they decide to run for Chair after their Vice Chair role ends.

●                     Serves on the executive committee and ensures all committees are working well to support the mission of the commission.

●                     Ideally this person is present at all meetings the Chair has with City Council and Mayor’s office staff.

●                     Has at least one monthly meeting with the Chair to work on meeting agendas and discuss committee updates.

●                     Qualifications:

○                     Must have at least a 2-year term limit

○                     Willingness and capacity to lead and carry out responsibilities

○                     Can effectively and professionally work with the Chair

●                     If interested in the Vice Chair role, please submit answers to the following questions on a separate word document via email to Chair Roberts-Crews (jrclgbtcomm@gmail.com) by April 1 EOD.

○                     Why are you interested in the Vice Chair role? (no more than 50 words)

○                     What do you hope to accomplish as Vice Chair? What are your specific priorities for the commission? (no more than 150 words)

○                     How would you specifically work and collaborate with the Chair? (no more than 50 words)

○                     Total response should not exceed 250 words (approximately one page). Double space responses.

●                     Chair will then forward Vice Chair candidates responses to commission by April 3 EOD. Commissioners should review responses by April 14 EOD and be prepared to vote for the first Vice Chair during the next meeting on April 15.
