Explanation
 
The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Director of Finance and Management to enter into contract with Bob McDorman Chevrolet Inc. for the purchase of a Tandem Axle Dump Truck for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, Sewer Maintenance Operations Center. This vehicle will be used for various rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the division. The contract language allows for the purchase of a second vehicle within 270 days after the execution of the contract by the City (Item #1B). Bob McDorman quoted the same price for Item #1B. The Sewer Maintenance Operations Center will make an operational decision in fiscal year 2006 relative to the purchase of the additional dump truck.
 
The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on October 27, 2005. Four (4) bids were received. A tabulation of those bids is as follows:

2. FYDA Freightliner Columbus, Inc. ITEM #1A $81,800.00; ITEM #1B $82,600.00

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Office opened formal bids on October 27, 2005 for the purchase of a Tandem Axle Dump Truck for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, Sewer Maintenance Operations Center, and
 
WHEREAS, the Division of Sewerage and Drainage recommends an award to be made to the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder Bob McDorman Chevrolet Inc. and,
 
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used for various sewer rehabilitation and maintenance projects performed by the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center, and
 
WHEREAS, the contract allows for the purchase of an additional dump truck 270 days after the execution of the contract by the City, and
 
WHEREAS, the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center will make an operational decision in fiscal year 2006 relative to the purchase of the additional dump truck, and
 
WHEREAS, A purchase order will be issued in accordance with the terms, conditions nd specifications of Solicitation Number: SA001789 on file in the Purchasing Office; now, therefore
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
Section 1. That the Director of Finance and Management be and is hereby authorized to establish a purchase order with Bob McDorman Chevrolet Inc. for the purchase of a Tandem Axle Dump Truck for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, in accordance with specifications on file in the Purchasing Office.
 
Section 2. That the expenditure of $81,727.00 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Sewerage System Operating Fund, Fund No. 650, OCA 605089, Object Level 1: 06, Object Level 03: 6652.
 
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
