Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into contracts of various social service agencies throughout Central Ohio for the provision of services for a twelve-month period. The total amount of these contracts is $1,782,546.
This ordinance represents programs to be funded following the Department of Development's application process. The legislation targets those social service agencies that will provide help to families and households through access to self-sufficiency, information and referral, services to new populations, school resources, health services, child care, legal assistance and material assistance. In addition, the city supports programs and activities so that the greater population is assured access to information, technical and other community assistance. This funding will allow the process to continue.
Emergency action is necessary to avoid causing interruptions in the delivery of program services.
FISCAL IMPACT: In 2008, a total of $2,359,260.00 has been allocated to fund social service programs through the General Fund.
