Explanation
Background:
This legislation is to authorize and direct the Recreation and Parks Department Director to enter into a three (3) year revenue generating contract with Wright’s Concessions LLC, for food concessions/catering at Lou Berliner Sports Park, with the option to renew for an additional two (2) year term.
Requests for Proposal were placed on Vendor Services on July 28, 2025, and one proposal from Wright’s Concessions, LLC was submitted and received during this process.
Wright’s Concessions agrees to pay a percentage of gross revenue back to the department, to support and continue the sustainability of the Sports Division and Lou Berliner Sports Park. Percentages shall be as follows:
- 15.5% of gross revenue, up to $500,000. Increase of 0.5% to 16% for year two (2), then consistent for remainder of contract.
- 17% of gross revenue, $500,000 and up. Consistent across length of contract
- 10% of gross revenue for 3rd party vendors, contracted by Wright’s Concessions. Consistent across length of contract.

Complex - the state’s premier softball complex - continues to support the mission of the Recreation and Parks Master Plan by ensuring a strong customer base with successful on-going revenue producing operations.
Fiscal Impact: Revenue will be paid to Recreation and Parks and contribute to the sustainability of the Sports Division.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize and direct the Recreation and Parks Department Director to enter into a three (3) year revenue generating contract with Wright’s Concessions, LLC, for food concessions/catering at Lou Berliner Sports Park, with the option to renew for an additional two (2) year term; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a three (3) year revenue generating contract with Wright’s Concessions, LLC, for food concessions/catering at Lou Berliner Sports Park, with the option to renew for an additional two (2) year term.
SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
