To honor, recognize, and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Junior League of Columbus’ Stewardship of the Kelton House Museum & Garden

WHEREAS, the Junior League of Columbus is part of a global organization whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training; and
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Columbus has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to preserving history, strengthening the community, and developing civic leaders dedicated to making a lasting impact throughout Central Ohio; and
WHEREAS, the Kelton House Museum & Garden, built in 1852, is one of Columbus’ most treasured historic landmarks and served as a stop on the Underground Railroad, preserving the legacy of freedom seekers and abolitionist efforts; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, the Junior League of Columbus assumed stewardship of the Kelton House Museum & Garden, ensuring the preservation of its historic integrity and expanding its role as an educational and cultural resource for the Central Ohio community; and
WHEREAS, for fifty years, the Junior League of Columbus has provided leadership, volunteer service, advocacy, and financial support to sustain and enhance the Kelton House Museum & Garden, welcoming thousands of visitors annually and offering meaningful educational programming for students, families, and community members; and
WHEREAS, this Golden Jubilee milestone reflects the Junior League of Columbus’ enduring dedication to historic preservation, education, civic engagement, and community impact; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of this anniversary provides an opportunity to recognize and honor the countless volunteers, leaders, donors, and community partners whose contributions have helped preserve and advance the mission of the Kelton House Museum & Garden for future generations; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
recognizes and congratulates the Junior League of Columbus on the 50th Anniversary of its stewardship of the Kelton House Museum & Garden that we honor and recognize. We express our appreciation for the organization’s decades of service, leadership, and dedication to preserving the history and cultural heritage of the City of Columbus.
