Title

To Recognize and Honor the ReRoute Program for its Commitment to Healing Today’s Youth for a Resilient Tomorrow

Body

WHEREAS, the ReRoute Program is a collaborative initiative between Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and Columbus Public Health, offering resilience-centered services to adolescents ages 12 to 21 who have experienced gun violence or other forms of community trauma; and

WHEREAS, ReRoute provides intentional engagement through mentorship, relationship-building, clinical counseling, and essential resource connections, offering youth a comprehensive pathway from crisis stabilization to long-term healing; and

WHEREAS, the program’s core pillars-youth intervention, family engagement, parental support, community outreach, and targeted programming-are designed to address both the immediate and long-term needs of participants and their families; and

WHEREAS, ReRoute employs evidence-based practices such as trauma-informed case management, conflict resolution, meditation, and therapeutic services, all while offering families employment resources and community healing events to strengthen the ecosystem surrounding each youth; and

WHEREAS, participation in ReRoute is entirely voluntary, and each youth’s journey is individualized, with programming tailored to their specific goals and timelines, demonstrating a flexible and person-centered approach to intervention and support; and

WHEREAS, this summer, the second group of resilient participants will be honored at a graduation celebration on June 10th, 2025, marking their growth, commitment, and healing through the ReRoute program; and

WHEREAS, as the summer months approach, ReRoute remains steadfast in its mission, recognizing that the challenges faced by our youth do not pause with the season, and that the program’s work must continue to provide hope, healing, and resilience in our community; and

WHEREAS, the Columbus City Council recognizes and commends the dedication of the ReRoute team, including its leadership from Columbus Recreation and Parks and Columbus Public Health, for their tireless efforts in nurturing a safer, more supportive environment for our city’s youth; NOW, THEREFORE

BE IT RESOLVED, that this Council does hereby honor and recognize the ReRoute Program for its unwavering commitment to youth healing, family empowerment, and community resilience, and extends its best wishes to the graduates of the Spring 2025 cohort as they continue their journey toward a brighter future.
