Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to increase contract ED021149 with Air Force One, Inc. for the maintenance and emergency repairs of HVAC equipment located in Support Services Division facilities. This contract was originally authorized by Ordinance 0365-2003, passed March 10, 2003, with four renewal options. The first renewal was exercised on on April 9, 2004 and the second was exercised on March 15, 2005. Neither required Council approval because the renewals were $20,000.00 each. This ordinance requests that the latest renewal be increased by $7,000.00. Due to various emergency repairs, only$4,138.58 remains of the original $20,000.00.
Emergency action is requested so that funding is available to correct emergency HVAC problems at Support Services Division facilities.
Fiscal Impact: The contract increase is for $7,000.00. This would make the total contract $27,000.00. The Facilities Management Division budgeted $35,000.00 for this contract in the 2005 Budget. Air Force One, Inc. Contract Compliance Number 31-1108651, exp. 02/22/2008.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 0365-2003, passed by City Council on March 10, 2003, authorized the Public Service Director to contract with Air Force One, Inc. for the maintenance and emergency repair of HVAC systems at Communications Division facilities, and
WHEREAS, the contract with Air Force One, Inc. contains an option to renew the existing agreement for four one-year periods, and
WHEREAS; an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Facilities Management Division in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Public Service Director to increase a contract Air Force One, Inc. for the maintenance and emergency repair of HVAC systems at Support Services Division facilities, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; now, therefore:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Public Service Director is hereby authorized to increase contract DE021149 with Air Force One, Inc. for the maintenance and emergency repair of HVAC systems in Support Services Division facilities.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $7,000.00, or so much thereof that may be necessary in regard to the action authorized in SECTION 1, be and is hereby authorized and approved as follows:

SECTION 3.
