Background: This legislation authorizes an amendment to Ordinance No. 0525-2025, passed by Columbus City Council on March 10, 2025, to allow for a correction of the name of one of the grant recipients.
Ordinance No. 0525-2025, passed by Columbus City Council on March 10, 2025, authorized the Director of Office of Violence Prevention enter into a spring youth programming grant agreement with Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation
After ordinance passage it was discovered that Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation name was inadvertently listed, rather than Columbus Metropolitan Library; a separate 501c3 entity. The correct agency name for this grant agreement is Columbus Metropolitan Library.
Emergency Justification:
Emergency action is requested to prevent further delays and allow the correct entity commence spring programming for youth as soon as possible.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 0525-2025, passed by Columbus City Council on March 10, 2025, authorized the Director of Office of Violence Prevention enter into a spring youth programming grant agreement with multiple 501c3 organizations; and
WHEREAS, after ordinance passage it was discovered that the incorrect agency name was included in the authorizing ordinance,; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Office of Violence Prevention requests that Ordinance No. 0525-2025 be amended in order to correct the organization name; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Office of Violence Prevention in that it is immediately necessary to amend Ordinance 0525-2025, passed by Columbus City Council on March 10, 2025, to prevent further delays and allow the correct entity commence spring programming for youth as soon as possible, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare: and, NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 0525-2025 is hereby amended as follows, deletions in strikethrough:
SECTION 1: That the Director of the Office of Violence Prevention be and is hereby authorized to enter into advance-pay grant agreements in the following amounts with the respectively listed registered 501c3 non-profit organizations for Spring 2025 programming opportunities, the term of which will begin on March 1, 2025 and will end on June 30, 2025. The aggregate total of all grants shall be $850,000.00.

SECTION 2. That existing Section 1 of Ordinance No. 0525-2025 and all references in the Background section and recitals of Ordinance No. 0525-2025 inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. That all provisions of Ordinance No. 0525-2025 not expressly repealed herein shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4. That for the reason stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
