Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to modify an existing no-cost agreement with The Ohio State University (OSU) for the transfer of research materials. The original signed Material Transfer Agreement was effective June 22, 2018. This modification will authorize an amendment allowing OSU to share the materials with VisMederi for the purpose of research and development and commercialization.

WHEREAS, the Board of Health has a need to modify an existing agreement with The Ohio State University for the transfer and sharing of materials for the purpose of research and development and commercialization; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of Columbus Public Health to authorize the Board of Health to modify an existing agreement with The Ohio State University in order to allow the sharing of transferred materials, all for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Health is hereby authorized to modify an existing agreement with The Ohio State University for the transfer and sharing of research materials.
SECTION 2. That this contract is in compliance with Chapter 329 of the Columbus City Code.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
