Explanation

Background:  This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to enter into contract with Bomar Construction Company, Inc. for the Facilities Management Division through funding from the Office of Construction Management to renovate water damaged office space at the Health Department building, 240 Parsons Avenue.  On February 5, 2007, the sprinkler system at the building broke, flooding portions of the building.  That day, the Mayor declared an emergency authorizing $100,000 in funding to repair the damage.  Bomar Construction is repairing water damaged ceilings and walls on the first and second floors.  Work includes the removal of the damaged ceilings, walls, insulation, light fixtures, and exit signs with the installation of new ceilings, walls, insulation, light fixtures, and exit signs.  Bomar Construction was selected due to its expertise in this area and its successful completion of previous projects for the City.

Emergency action is requested in order to reimburse Bomar Construction Company, Inc. for costs incurred for the renovation of the water damaged offices of the Health Department building, 240 Parsons Avenue.

Bomar Construction Company, Inc. Contract Compliance Number 31-1430310, expiration date 03/15/2007.
