Explanation

The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with A Kid Again, Inc. in support of Adventures for Columbus Families.

A Kid Again will use funding to support year-round family outings known as Adventures for Columbus Families, for those raising a child with life-threatening medical conditions. The goal of this program is to see improvements in the mental and physical health of the individuals we serve.

This program provides the families it serves in Columbus quality time as a family unit where they can get a much-needed break from medical settings and be together as a family in one of Columbus' many child-desired venues. Success will be determined through post-Adventure surveys and the number of Columbus families that were served throughout the funding period.

City Council is proposing $16,000.00 in support of these efforts.

FISCAL IMPACT:  $16,000.00 is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund for this purpose.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION:  An emergency designation is requested in order for A Kid Again to ensure immediate reimbursement for the services provided to families in need.
