Explanation
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) #2007-01was executed by representatives of the City and the Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees/CWA (CMAGE/CWA) Local 4502. This MOU assigns pay grades to the classifications of Aging Programs Provider Relations Specialist, Aging Programs Outreach Specialist and Aging Programs Case Management Supervisor I. The passage of this ordinance indicates Council's acceptance of MOU # 2007-01, a copy of which is attached hereto.

To accept Memorandum of Understanding# 2007-01 executed between representatives of the City of Columbus and the Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees/CWA (CMAGE/CWA) Local 4502, which amends the Collective Bargaining Contract August 24, 2005 through August 23, 2008; and to declare an emergency.

WHEREAS, representatives of the City and the Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees/CWA (CMAGE/CWA) Local 4502 entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) #2007-01, a copy of which is attached hereto, to amend the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, August 24, 2005 through August 23, 2008; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to amend the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, by accepting MOU #2007-01 so that implementation can proceed at the earliest possible date, thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare; Now Therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That MOU #2007-01 amends the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, August 24, 2005 through August 23, 2008.
Section 2. That City Council , in the best interests of the City, hereby recognizes and accepts MOU #2007-01, a copy of which is attached hereto, executed between representatives of the City and CMAGE/CWA, to be effective with the first day of the first pay period following passage by City Council.
Section 3. For the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten (10) days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
