To Commend Brenda J. Fields for her Distinguished Career and Celebrate her Retirement from the City of Columbus

 

Body

WHEREAS, Brenda J. Fields was born in Tacoma, Washington and spent most of her adult life in Columbus, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Brenda J. Fields earned her Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University, where she also became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Brenda J. Fields has spent decades as both a traditional and non-traditional educator within the City of Columbus for youth, college students, and senior citizens through the City of Columbus Capital Kids Program, The Ohio State University, and Capital University, as well as serving as a motivational and inspirational speaker; and

 

WHEREAS, for over 30 years, Brenda J. Field’s career has been rooted in the community through her service to the City of Columbus, and she has actively enriched and participated in several boards, committees, and organizations including Afterschool Counts, Leadership Columbus, where she served as Board President, Women Coming Together, City Leaders Graduation, United Way, United Negro College Fund Walk-a-thon, My Brother’s Keeper, the Epilepsy Foundation and more; and

 

WHEREAS, Brenda J. Fields has received numerous awards and recognitions including the City of Columbus Outstanding Staff and Staff Appreciation Awards, and the establishment of the Brenda J. Fields Scholarship and Community Service Award with Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. at The Ohio State University; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus thanks Brenda J. Fields for her service to the City of Columbus and the Columbus community through her steadfast leadership and wishes her the best as she enters retirement, which she will spend surrounded by family and loved ones; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates Brenda J. Fields and congratulates her on her retirement from the City of Columbus.
