To honor and recognize Frank W. Casto who has served as a vital part of the Recreation and Parks Commission.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Casto has volunteered his time and energy to make the City of Columbus more enjoyable for all citizens; and
 
WHEREAS,  Frank W. Casto, while serving on the commission from November 7, 1994 to January 13, 2007, has been one of the most caring citizens of our community, while demonstrating his civic pride by volunteering countless hours of service; and
 
WHEREAS , Frank W. Casto has served with (3) three Recreation & Parks Directors throughout his career , Gary N. Fenton, Wayne A. Roberts and Alan D. McKnight. Mr. Casto was involved in the opening of (3) new recreation centers, Dodge, Lazelle Woods, and the Gillie Community Center in the Northland Area; and
 
WHEREAS, Frank W. Casto was involved in the partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and Franklin County Metro Parks that resulted in the development of The Creeks, our first joint project with Metro Parks. Mr. Casto was instrumental in opening the first Dog Park, the Spindler Road Soccer Facility, Eddie Saunders Park and the new Mentel Memorial Golf Course Clubhouse; and
 
WHEREAS, Frank W. Casto played a major role in the development of the new master plan for Franklin Park and the Conservatory; and
 
WHEREAS, Frank W. Casto's above accomplishments were performed while maintaining his personal life as well. Mr. Casto is a 38 year member of Carpenters Local Union, Treasurer/Business Manager for South Central Ohio District Council, Vice President for the Ohio State Council of Carpenters, negotiator between Labor Unions and Contractors, Trustee for Health and Welfare, Board Member for the Ohio Hunger Task Force which fed 10,000 children daily, in the State of Ohio; and
 
WHEREAS, his appointment as member to Mayor Coleman's transition committee, dedication to the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and member of the Recreation and Parks Commission from 1993-2007 speaks for itself,  Mr. Casto, and his wife Margaret (Peg) will truly be missed throughout our Columbus community; and
 
WHEREAS,  Frank W. Casto's overall dedication to our city has made a major impact to not only the City of Columbus, but Columbus Recreation and Parks citywide; making Columbus the most desirable place to live, work, visit, play and raise a family; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby honor and recognize Frank W. Casto for all of his dedicated  volunteer service, hard work and commitment to enhancing the City of Columbus and the Department of Recreation and Parks.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Frank W. Casto, as a token of our appreciation.
