Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into an advanced payment grant agreement with the Columbus Metropolitan Club, Inc. in support of their strategic initiative “CMC Next” to expand civic engagement, strengthen community connections, and make public dialogue more accessible to residents throughout Columbus.
The Columbus Metropolitan Club is a local nonprofit that seeks to connect people and ideas through community conversation, fostering civic awareness, informed dialogue, and meaningful engagement on the issues shaping Central Ohio.
This grant agreement will support CMC Next, the Columbus Metropolitan Club's strategic initiative to expand civic engagement, strengthen community connections, and make public dialogue more accessible to residents throughout Columbus. Through expanded public forums, emerging leadership programming, strategic community partnerships, and digital engagement tools, CMC Next will reach audiences beyond its traditional downtown programming and create opportunities for residents from diverse backgrounds to participate in meaningful discussions about Columbus's future. This grant agreement will support the implementation of CMC Next programming, outreach, and civic engagement activities, ultimately helping CMC broaden participation and strengthen connections between residents, community leaders, and public institutions.
Since the organization lacks the funding necessary to operate the program fully on a reimbursement basis, funds will be advanced to Columbus Metropolitan Club, Inc. in support of strategic initiative “CMC Next” to expand civic engagement, strengthen community connections, and make public dialogue more accessible to residents throughout Columbus.
Fiscal Impact: Funding ($23,000.00) is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund ($13,000.00) and within the General Fund ($10,000.00).
