WHEREAS, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 company based in Columbus, Ohio, is one of the largest and strongest diversified financial services and insurance organizations in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, on April 14th, 2026, marks one hundred years of service, leadership and trust, a milestone that honors the strong heritage that has shaped their values, guided business decisions and inspired their mission of protecting people, businesses and futures with extraordinary care; and

 

WHEREAS, since its founding as the Farm Bureau Mutual Auto Insurance Company, the company has long contributed to the financial, civic and humanitarian successes of this city; and

 

WHEREAS, through employee volunteerism and corporate philanthropy, Nationwide has supported the community, its residents, visitors and others by supporting, among other worthy causes, such as Nationwide Children’s Hospital, making a lasting impact on the lives of central Ohio children and their families; and

 

WHEREAS, this centennial stands as a testament to Nationwide’s enduring strength, stability and unwavering commitment to providing stable and meaningful employment to thousands of people across the region, for generations, Nationwide has built a trusted, iconic brand and a strong reputation for doing what is right, standing firmly On Your Side for their customers, communities and partners; and

 

WHEREAS, as Nationwide celebrates its 100th anniversary, the decisions being made today are laying the groundwork for a protection company that will serve its members for another century; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrates Nationwide’s centennial as both a reflection of our community’s remarkable past and a catalyst for Columbus’ continued positive impact on the future of service, leadership and trust. This centennial marks more than a milestone; it’s a foundation for the next chapter of Nationwide’s growth.
