To Recognize and Celebrate Autism Speaks and the Empower Summit & Challenge

WHEREAS, the Autism Speaks Empower Summit and Challenge brings together advocates, families, self-advocates, researchers, and community leaders in a shared commitment to elevate understanding, expand support, and amplify the voices of those across the autism spectrum;
WHEREAS, the Summit serves as a platform to foster leadership, educate participants on current research and public policy, and spark collaborative solutions that meet the diverse needs of the autism community;
WHEREAS, the Autism Speaks Walk, and its associated initiatives continue to mobilize individuals and families across the nation in support of improved services, inclusive practices, and long-term well-being for people with autism;
WHEREAS, the funds raised through these efforts help power critical programs, foster public awareness, and support the pursuit of lifelong opportunities for autistic individuals;
WHEREAS, Autism Speaks remains steadfast in its mission to promote early diagnosis, equitable access to care, meaningful employment, and community integration for individuals on the autism spectrum;
WHEREAS, the organization’s work reflects a fearless commitment to removing barriers, advancing scientific understanding, and challenging societal perceptions through education, partnership, and action;
WHEREAS, those who participate in the Empower Summit and Challenge embody the resilience and resolve of the autism community, and exemplify what it means to work toward a world that recognizes and respects neurodiversity;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize the numerous contributions made by Autism Speaks; and celebrates the Empower Summit and Challenge, and commend all participants, supporters, and advocates for their dedication to advancing knowledge, inspiring action, and uniting the autism community in pursuit of lasting and meaningful change.
