      Bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on August 24^th, 2010 for the Linden Park Shelter Project, as follows:

      Alternate #2 - add/deduct for use of manufactured stone for columns and end arches rather than reclaimed stone from original shelter.

To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into contract with Builderscape, Inc. for the Linden Park Shelter Project, to authorize the expenditure of Base Bid $119,613.00 and a contingency of $11,387.00 for a total of $131,000.00 from the Voted Recreation and Parks Bond Fund, Fund 746 Gov't B.A.B.S. (Build America Bonds) and to declare an emergency.  ($131,000.00)

Body

       WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on August 24^th, 2010, and the contract for the Linden Park Shelter Project 2010 was awarded to the lowest bidder;  and

      WHEREAS, it is necessary to enter into contract with Builderscape, Inc. for the Linden Park Shelter Project 2010; and

      WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to expend said funds to ensure improvements proceed in a timely manner; now, therefore

      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

      SECTION 1.   That the Director of  Recreation and Parks is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Builderscape, Inc. for the Linden Park Shelter Project 2010; and

      SECTION 2.   That the expenditure of $131,000.00, or so much thereof may be necessary, be and is hereby authorized from:

Recreation and Parks Voted Bond Fund

Fund # 746, Project #510035-100045, Facility Shelter Renovations, OCA763545, Obj Level 3# 6620

      SECTION 3.   That the City Auditor is authorized to make any accounting changes to revise the funding source for all contracts or contract modifications associated with this legislation.

      SECTION 4.  That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or 10 days after passage if the Mayor neither approves or vetoes the same.
