Explanation
Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01 was executed by representatives of the City and IAFF, Local 67 to defer the contractually-provided four percent (4%) 2009 wage increase. The passage of this ordinance indicates Council's acceptance of Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01, a copy of which is attached hereto.
Emergency action is recommended in order to immediately effect the provisions.
Title
To accept Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01 executed between representatives of the City of Columbus and IAFF, Local 67, to defer the contractually-provided four percent (4%) 2009 wage increase for members of the bargaining unit; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, representatives of the City and IAFF, Local 67 entered into Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01, a copy of which is attached hereto, to defer the contractually-provided four percent (4%) 2009 wage increase for members of the bargaining unit; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to accept Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01 thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01, executed by representatives of the City and IAFF, Local 67, defers the contractually- provided four percent (4%) 2009 wage increase for members of the bargaining unit.
Section 2. That City Council, in the best interest of the City, hereby recognizes and accepts Memorandum of Understanding #2009-01, a copy of which is attached hereto, executed between representatives of the City and IAFF, Local 67.
Section 3. For the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten (10) days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
