To honor and congratulate the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and its Moderator, Dr. John Little on the occasion of their 138th Annual Session.
Body
WHEREAS, the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association (EUMBA) was organized in 1872 under the ideals of education, mission and mutual help; and
WHEREAS, under its founders, the EUMBA became the cornerstone for ministerial education in the State of Ohio; and
WHEREAS, this consortium of Pastors and other Christians, blessed with prophetic vision and apostolic zeal, formed an army of educators dedicated to the education and welfare of their brethren; and
WHEREAS, the EUMBA teamed up with other ministerial associations in an institute for ministers, which was the forerunner of the organization of the State Body later known as the General Association and currently known as the Ohio Baptist Convention; and
WHEREAS, the list of leading spirits as Moderators, Presidents, and Leaders in this great association serves as a who's who of Central Ohio's finest and most prominent and productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, on March 5, 1983, The Eastern Union Assembly Grounds was purchased, with the purpose providing space for retreats, conferences and educational programs to enhance the work of the local and major assembles of The Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association; and
WHEREAS, in this 21st Century the Eastern Union is blessed to have six Past Moderators, Dr. Charles Nobel, Rev. James Frazier, Dr. Donald Washington, Dr. G. Thomas Turner, Dr. Harold Hudson and Dr. Odell Waller, still working to keep the spirit of the Association alive; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of its current moderator, Dr. John Little, Pastor of the Reeb-Hosack Community Baptist Church, EUMBA is assured continued success in its various missionary ministries and endeavors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is proud to host the EUMBA 138th Annual Session, and welcomes its many participants from around the country; now therefore
