BACKGROUND
This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify the contract with Paul Werth Associates to extend the term of the agreement from February 8, 2024 until December 31, 2024, to support the Department of Development’s communications team as it works to educate the community on the department’s programs and policies, particularly related to housing, zoning, human services and economic development.

EMERGENCY JUSTIFICATION: Emergency action is requested in order to ensure funds are available to provide support for the Department of Development’s communications team as it works to educate the community on the department’s programs and policies, particularly related to housing, zoning, human services and economic development, and to extend the contract termination date to 12/31/2024.
CONTRACT COMPLIANCE: the vendor number is 004255 and expires 1/13/2025.

Body
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development executed an agreement with Paul Werth Associates, to provide support for the Department of Development’s communications team as it works to educate the community on the department’s programs and policies, particularly related to housing, zoning, human services and economic development; and
WHEREAS, the agreement term needs to be extended to December 31, 2024, in order to expend all of the funds originally appropriated; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operations of the Department of Development in that it is immediately necessary for the Director to extend the contract with Paul Werth Associates to ensure funds are available to provide support for the Department of Development’s communications team as it works to educate the community on the department’s programs and policies, particularly related to housing, zoning, human services and economic development; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the Director of the Department of Development is hereby authorized to modify the contract with Paul Werth Associates (PO408264) to extend the contract term to December 31, 2024, in order to align with the period of performance of the grant, and to expend all of the funds.
SECTION 2: That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
