To honor and recognize Moushaumi Robinson for her USA Track and Field achievements.

WHEREAS, this Council honors and recognizes Miss Moushaumi Robinson for her many achievements with the USA Track and Field team; and
 
WHEREAS, she had her lifetime best performance at the most opportune time when she placed sixth in the women's 400 meters at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Sacramento.  Following her performance, Team USA coaching staff selected her for a spot on the 4 x 400m relay pool for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens; and
 
WHEREAS, her relaying success has been plentiful.  She finished fourth in the 400m at the 2003 Nationals and won a gold medal in the 4 x 400m relay at the 2003 Pan Am Games.  It was the first time the U.S. Women's 4 x 400m relay team had won a gold medal at the Pan Am Games since 1991.  She was a three-time NCAA outdoor runner-up and 2003 NCAA outdoor champion in the 4 x 400m relay during her career at the University of Texas; and
 
WHEREAS, Moushaumi attended Columbus Alternative High School where she graduated with a 3.85 grade point average.  She was a prep star at Brookhaven High School and was ranked fifth in the 200m and eighth in the 400m in the national prep charts among all seniors in 1999.  She was also a two-time Ohio state 400m champion.  She also lettered in basketball and was the track team MVP all four seasons of her prep career; and
 
WHEREAS, she was recognized as a 2001 Arthur Ashe Jr., Sports Scholar which honors minority student athletes across the nation for their athletic ability, academic excellence and community activism; and
 
WHEREAS, she graduated from University of Texas at Austin in 2003 after double-majoring in psychology and corporate communications.  She has aspirations of earning a Ph.D in psychology or law; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That a copy of this Resolution be presented to Miss Moushaumi Robinson, as a token of our highest esteem.
