Explanation

BACKGROUND:  Since 1974, the Columbus Health Department has provided primary health care services to the needy through contracts with community-based health centers.  Since 1998, the Columbus Health Department has contracted with the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. (CNHC), a not-for-profit corporation, to provide primary health care services to medically indigent patients at various neighborhood health centers.  CNHC's Contract Compliance No. is 311533908.  This ordinance will authorize a modification and increase of the current contract for the period through December 31, 2009.  Contract EL009095 was established for $4,379,260. Emergency action is requested to provide for this contract modification in order to ensure timely payments to the Contractor.

FISCAL IMPACT:        The funds to modify and increase this contract are budgeted in the Health Special Revenue Fund, Fund 250.
