Explanation
The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into contract with Uni-Facs Steel Works Inc. for Specialized Machining and Fabrication services for the Department of Public Utilities, Division of Sewerage and Drainage.
The Treatment Engineering section within the Division of Sewerage and Drainage requires machining and fabrication of components, parts and subsystems for the Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sewer Maintenance Operation Center, Compost Facility and Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant. Services will include machine shop fabrication, and on-site machining and fabricating. The contractor will furnish all material, labor and equipment to provide the said services. The contract will be in effect for one (1) year from the date of execution by the City of Columbus. The contract language allows for the contract to be extended for two (2) more years on a year to year basis.
The Director of Public Utilities received Request for Proposals (RFP) on December 5, 2007. Two (2) bids were received. The evaluation information is attached. After scoring the RFP's the Treatment Engineering Section is awarding the contract to Uni-Facs Steel Works Inc.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Utilities be and is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Uni-Facs Steel Works Inc. for Specialized Machining and Fabrication Services for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.
Section 2. That the expenditure of $100,000.00 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Sewerage System Operating Fund, Fund No. 650 as follows:
