Explanation
Background: This legislation will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to accept a grant in the amount of $15,000.00 and enter into agreement with the Reinberger Foundation for the Hayden Falls Improvement Project, Phase II. This grant money will be used to install approximately 50 feet of boardwalk along the bottom of the Hayden Falls Park ravine. Currently, there is a viewing platform, 125 feet of boardwalk and stairs that lead down the steep slope of the ravine. A gap of about 400 feet exists between the stairs and the boardwalk. This grant will give us the ability to add 50 additional feet of boardwalk.

WHEREAS, the Reinberger Foundation has awarded the City of Columbus, Recreation and Parks Department, a grant to be used toward improvements to Phase II of the Hayden Falls Improvement Project; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate said funds to the Recreation and Parks Department for expenditures in conjunction with the Hayden Falls boardwalk development; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
SECTION 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to accept a grant in the amount of $15,000.00 and enter into agreement with the Reinberger Foundation for the Hayden Falls Improvement Project, Phase II.
SECTION 2. That from the unappropriated monies in the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund No. 291, and from all monies estimated to come into said fund from any and all sources and unappropriated for any other purpose during the fiscal year ending December 31, 2008, the sum of $15,000.00 is appropriated to the Recreation and Parks Department, Department No. 51-01, as follows:
Fund Type; Grant, Dept No.; 51-01, Fund No.; 291, Grant No.; 518231, Object Level 3; 6621, OCA Code; 518231, Amount; $15,000.00.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
