Explanation
BACKGROUND:
 
Need:      The Fire Division is in need to purchase turnout gear; this legislation is to authorize and direct the Finance Director to issue a purchase order for turnout gear from an existing Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office for such purpose with Total Fire Group.
 
Bid Information:      A Universal Term Contract exists for these purchases.

FISCAL IMPACT:
 
Budgeted Amount:            Funds exist within the Division's current 2004 General Fund Operating Budget specifically for this purchase.
 
Body
WHEREAS,      the Fire Division is in need to purchase turnout gear; and
 
WHEREAS,      a Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office exists for these purchases; and
 
WHEREAS,      a situation exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety, in that it is necessary to purchase said turnout gear, for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; now, therefore,
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
 
Section 1.      That the Finance Director be and is hereby authorized and directed to issue a purchase order for the purchase of turnout gear in accordance with the existing Universal Term Contract established by the Purchasing Office with Total Fire Group.
 
Section 2.      That the expenditure of $200,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and is hereby authorized from the Fire Division's General Fund Budget, Fund 010, Division of Fire No. 30-04, Object Level One 02, Object Level Three 2222, OCA 301531.
 
Section 3.      That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
