Title: To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by amending Section 5(E)-C177, the classification of Chief Building Official; and to declare an emergency.

Explanation

 

Significant recruitment efforts were made to fill the classification of Chief Building Official at the current pay grade, without success.  After checking the market, it was evident that the pay grade should be adjusted to a Grade 96 through an amendment to the Management Compensation Plan.  The acceptance of this ordinance will indicate Council's approval.

 

Any budget impact will be absorbed within the existing department budget.

 

 

Title

 

To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by amending Section 5(E)-C177, the classification of Chief Building Official; and to declare an emergency.

 

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, it is recommended that the pay grade be adjusted for the classification of Chief Building Official in order to recruit qualified candidates; and

 

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to amend the Management Compensation Plan thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, Therefore

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

Section 1.  To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by amending Section 5(E)-C177 to read as follows, effective with the beginning of the first payperiod following passage by City Council:

Section 2.  To repeal existing Section 5(E)-C177 at the beginning of the first payperiod following passage by City Council.

 

Section 3.  For the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall  take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten (10) days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
