Explanation
 
Background:  This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to renew a contract for the Facilities Management Division with Roto Rooter.  This contract is for preventive maintenance and repair of grease traps, grease interceptors, and septic tanks at various City-owned facilities.  The original contract was formally bid in February 2006 (SA001917). Legislation was not necessary because the total amount in year one and year two did not exceed $20,000.00.  Ordinance No. 0507-2008, passed on March 14, 2008, in the amount of $23,972.00 authorized the second of three renewal options.  This is the third of three renewal options for the period of May 1, 2009 through April 30, 2010.  
 
Roto Rooter Contract Compliance Number 42-0499300, expiration date 03/11/2010.
 
Fiscal Impact:  The Facilities Management Division budgeted $24,100.00 for this contract in 2009.  In 2008, the Facilities Management Division spent $23,005.00.  In 2007, the Facilities Management Division spent $14,919.00 for this contract.  The cost of this contract is $30,000.00.  The overrun will be funded through cost savings in other HVAC contracts.

Body
 
WHEREAS, the Facilities Management Division has a contract for the preventive maintenance and repair of grease traps, grease interceptors, and septic tanks at various City-owned facilities; and
 
WHEREAS, Formal Bid SA001917 was awarded to Roto Rooter in 2006; and
 
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 0507-0208, passed March 14, 2008 in the amount of $23,972.00 authorized the second of three renewal options; and
 
WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize the Finance and Management Director to renew a contract with Roto Rooter for preventive maintenance and repair of grease traps, grease interceptors, and septic tanks at various City-owned facilities; now, therefore:
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
SECTION 1.  That the Finance and Management Director is hereby authorized to renew a contract with Roto Rooter for the preventative maintenance and repair of grease traps, grease interceptors, and septic tanks at various City-owned facilities.    
 
SECTION 2.   That the expenditure of $30,000.00, or so much thereof that may be necessary in regard to the action authorized in SECTION 1, be and is hereby authorized and approved as follows:
