The Department of Public Utilities solicited 114 vendors for the purchase of custodial services (SA004304). Of those solicited, 26 had certified MBR/M1A status and 3 had certified F1 status. On March 29, 2012, the Department of Public Utilities received and opened six bids, 4 had certified MBR/M1A status. The lowest responsive and responsible and best bid was AA Janitorial, Inc. at $155,868.00. It should be noted that AA Janitorial, Inc. omitted a letter in the Invitation to Bid documenting their experience. AA Janitorial, Inc. has since provided the appropriate documentation. The omission does not affect the amount of the bid or give the bidder a competitive advantage over the other bidders. This award is for twelve (12) months of custodial service as defined in Solicitation SA004304. This contract contains a one year renewal option. The contract compliance number for AA Janitorial, Inc. is 31-1190027 and expires on January 12, 2013. The vendor does have MBE status.

To authorize the Public Utilities Director to enter into a one-year contract with AA Janitorial, Inc. for custodial services for the Division of Power and Water, to authorize the expenditure of $155,868.00 from Water Systems Operating Fund. ($155,868.00)

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Utilities received and opened six bids on solicitation number SA004304 on March 29, 2012, and
WHEREAS, the Division of Power and Water recommends an award to be made to the lowest responsive and responsible and best bidder AA Janitorial, Inc. and,
WHEREAS, these custodial services are used by the Division of Power and Water, for the preservation of public health, peace, property and safety; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Public Utilities Director be and is hereby authorized to enter into one-year contract with AA Janitorial, Inc. for custodial services at the Division of Power and Water, Department of Public Utilities.
Section 2. That the expenditure of $155,868.00, or so much thereof as may be needed, is hereby authorized to be expended from:
