Title: To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by enacting Section 5(E)-C069, the classification of Chief of Administration to the City Attorney (U); and to declare an emergency.
 
Explanation
 
This ordinance amends the Management Compensation Plan, Ordinance No. 2944-1999 by adding the new classification of Chief of Administration to the City Attorney (U) created by the Civil Service Commission at its January 2006 meeting.  Pay grade 97 is recommended  due to the level of the position in the City Attorney's office.  This position will function in the same capacity as a Deputy Director.
 
Emergency action is requested in order to allow the City Attorney's Office to proceed with the filling of the new classification.

To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by enacting Section 5(E)-C069, the classification of Chief of Administration to the City Attorney (U); and to declare an emergency.
 
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission created the classification of Chief of Administration to the City Attorney (U); and
 
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the Management Compensation Plan to reflect changes to the City's Classification Plan; and
 
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to amend the Management Compensation Plan so that it can be implemented without delay, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, Therefore
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
              
Section 1.  To amend Ordinance No. 2944-1999, as amended, by enacting Section 5(E)-C069 to read as follows:

Section 2.  For the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten (10) days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
