Explanation
 
BACKGROUND:
This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to modify contract EL007081 with Franklin County Board of Health by extending the contract termination date from October 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008. The additional time will allow the contactor to continue to support the operation of the Lead Safe Columbus Program.
 
An emergency is requested so this contract can be extended without interruption.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional funds are needed for this modification.

To authorize the Director of the Department of Development to modify a contract with Franklin County Board of Health to extend the termination date from October 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008; and to declare an emergency.
 
 
Body
 
 
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract EL007081 with Franklin County Board of Health by extending the contract from October 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008; and
 
WHEREAS, this modification will allow the contractor to continue to support the operation of the Lead Safe Columbus Program, and
 
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Housing Division in that it is immediately necessary to approve this Ordinance so this contract can be extended without interruption, all for the immediate preservation of the public health, property, safety and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE,
 
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
 
Section 1.      That the Director of the Department of Development is hereby authorized to modify Contract EL007081 with Franklin County Board of Health by extending the contract termination date from October 1, 2007 to July 31, 2008.
 
Section 2.      That this modification is made pursuant to Section 329.16 of the Columbus City Code.
 
Section 3.        That for reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after adoption if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
