Explanation
 
The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Director of Finance and Management to enter into contract for the purchase of one (1) One Ton Dump Body and two (2) Utility Bodies for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, Sewer Maintenance Operations Center, with Ace Truck Body, Inc.  These will be mounted on 2011 Ford F450 and 2011 F350 cab and chassis supplied by the City of Columbus.  The equipment has been approved by the City of Columbus, Fleet Management Division.
 
The Purchasing Office opened formal bids on February 17, 2011 for the purchase of one (1) One Ton Dump Body and two (2) Utility Bodies for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage.  Thirty-three bids (1-MBE) were solicited and one (1) bid was received, and is attached.
 
SUPPLIER:  Ace Truck Body Inc. (31-0936828) Expires 7-21-12
 
The company is not debarred according to the Excluded Party Listing System of the Federal Govenrment or prohibited from being awarded a contract according to the Auditor of State Unresolved Findings for Recovery Certified Search.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:  $50,303.00 is needed for this purchase.
 
2010 expenditures for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage is $750,292.90.
2009 expenditures for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage is $1,137,993.57.

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Office opened formal bids on February 17, 2011 for the purchase of one (1) One Ton Dump Body and two (2) Utility Bodies for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, Sewer Maintenance Operations Center.  Thirty-three bids (1-MBE) were solicited and one (1) bid was received, and
 
WHEREAS, an award is being made to the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder Ace Truck Body, Inc., and
 
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used for various sewer rehabilitation and maintenance projects performed by the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center, and
 
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the usual daily operation of the Division of Sewerage and Drainage to issue a contract in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications of Solicitation Number: SA003833 on file in the Purchasing Office, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; now, therefore
 
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
Section 1.  That the Director of Finance and Management be and is hereby authorized to establish a purchase order with Ace Truck Body, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) One Ton Dump Body and two (2) Utility Bodies for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, in accordance with specifications on file in the Purchasing Office.
 
Section 2.  That the expenditure of $50,303.00 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Sewerage System Operating Fund, Fund No. 650, OCA 605089, Object Level 1: 06, Object Level 03: 6652.
 
Section 3.  That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
