Explanation
Need: The Division of Police, Department of Public Safety needs to acquire an agreement for maintenance on the Division's Mobile Data Computers (MDC's). Warranties on most of the existing MDC's expired December 31, 2004.
Bid Information: This warranty maintenance agreement can be purchased from the State of Ohio State Term Schedule number 533149-0.
Contract Compliance No.: 94-3413053 - Data 911 Systems.
Emergency Designation: Warranty on most of the Division's MDC's expired on December 31, 2004, therefore emergency legislation is requested so maintenance can be in place to repair the MDC's.
FISCAL IMPACT: Since Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds will be used to fund this agreement, there will be no fiscal impact on the financial status of the General Funds.

To authorize and direct the Director of Public Safety to enter into an agreement with Data911 Systems for the maintenance of the Mobile Data Computers for the Division of Police, to authorize the expenditure of $65,500.00 from the Local Block Grant Funds; and to declare an emergency. ($65,500.00)

WHEREAS, the Division of Police needs to have a maintenance agreement on its Mobile Data Computers; and
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio has a State Term Schedule #533149-0 to purchase a maintenance agreement on the MDC's; and
WHEREAS, Local Block Grant Funds have been authorized to purchase this maintenance agreement; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the daily operation of the Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, in that it is immediately necessary to purchase a maintenance agreement for the MDC's for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Safety be and hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with Data911 Systems for the maintenance of the Division's Mobil Data Computers.
Section 2. That the expenditure of $65,500.00 or so much as may be needed, be and the same is hereby authorized as follows:

Section 3. That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
