Explanation

 

Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06 was executed by representatives of the City and Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees (CMAGE/CWA), Local 4502, to assign pay ranges to newly created classifications and to reflect recent Civil Service Commission action.  The passage of this ordinance indicates Council's acceptance of Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06, a copy of which is attached hereto.

 

Emergency action is recommended in order to begin the classification process.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:  Any costs associated with this MOUwill be absorbed within current budget levels.

To accept Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06 executed between representatives of the City of Columbus and Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees (CMAGE/CWA), Local 4502, which amends the Collective Bargaining Contract, August 24, 2002 through August 23, 2005; and to declare an emergency.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, representatives of the City and Columbus Municipal Association of Government Employees (CMAGE/CWA), Local 4502, entered into Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06, a copy of which is attached hereto, to amend Appendix B of the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, August 24, 2002 through August 23, 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to amend the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, by accepting Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06 to begin the classification process, thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

Section 1.  That Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06 amends the Collective Bargaining Contract between the City and CMAGE/CWA, August 24, 2002 through August 23, 2005.

 

Section 2.  That City Council, in the best interests of the City, hereby recognizes and accepts Memorandum of Understanding #2004-06, a copy of which is attached hereto, executed between representatives of the City and CMAGE/CWA to be effective with the beginning of the payperiod following passage by City Council.

 

Section 3. For the reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor or ten (10) days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
