To acknowledge and congratulate the employees of the City of Columbus' Division of Fleet Management for being the 2014 #1 public fleet in America.

WHEREAS, the Division of Fleet Management was named the #1 Fleet in North America by Governing Magazine and bestowed the distinguished title of  "100 Best" Fleet programs at the National Association of Fleet Administrators Conference on  April 9th, 2014 beating out 38,000 public fleets across the nation, and;
 
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus Division of Fleet Management has been ranked in the top 10 for the "100 Best" program for the last 5 years; and   
 
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus  Division of Fleet Management employees have achieved the Automatic Service Excellence Blue Seal for the 7th year in a row for 2014, and remains the largest municipality  holding this prestigious recognition; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus  Division of Fleet Management employees have demonstrated through achievements such as these that they are one of, if not the best run  public sector fleet in North America; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus Division of Fleet Management was also honored as the #1 - Greenest Fleet in 2011 and holds this elite status for 5 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Division of Fleet Management continue to pioneer the use of safe, cost effective and environmentally preferred  Compressed natural Gas (CNG) by building fueling infrastructure and purchasing vehicles dedicated to CNG; and
 
WHEREAS, the Division of Fleet Management is constantly working to ensure our team of men and women are the most highly trained and skilled in North America; and
 
WHEREAS, the Division of Fleet Management continues to reduce expenses by the education and training of its' men and women focused on the preventative and predictive maintenance for the city's' fleet of about 6,400 units;  now therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby congratulate the Division of Fleet Management under the leadership of the Department of Finance and Management for their continuous improvement and pursuit of excellence , making the City of Columbus a better place to live for all its' citizens and saving our tax payers money.
