Explanation
The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Director of Finance and Management to establish a purchase order for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, Sewer Maintenance Operations Center for one (1) John Deere 75D Excavator and Trailer with Nortrax Great Lakes Inc. The purchase of this equipment will be in accordance with the current State of Ohio State Term Schedule Contract (STS), STS778515U which expires on September 30, 2008 and STS7751500506 which expires on December 31, 2008. The City of Columbus does not include this equipment on any Universal Term Contract. The equipment will be utilized at the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center for sanitary and storm sewer line maintenance and repair projects.
The purchase of this equipment replaces a 1999 John Deere 410C BT14870 and Trailer BT16161 which the trade-in value is calculated into the cost. Copies of the State of Ohio contracts are attached to this legislation and have been forwarded to the Finance Department/Purchasing Office. The funding requested on this legislation is based on quotes dated March 7, 2008 and April 15, 2008 and is the State of Ohio contract pricing. The quotation is on file with the Purchasing Office. This purchase has been approved by Fleet Management. At this time this equipment does not offer environmentally preferred fuel options.
FISCAL IMPACT: $90,751.60 is budgeted and needed for this purchase.

WHEREAS, wishes to purchase one (1) John Deere 75D Excavator and Trailer in accordance with State of Ohio State Term Schedule Contract, STS778515U which expires on September 30, 2008 and STS7751500506 which expires on December 31, 2008, and
WHEREAS, the equipment will be used by crews at the Sewer Maintenance Operations Center for sewer line maintenance and repair projects, and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus does not include this type of equipment on any Universal Term Contract, and
WHEREAS, this equipment replaces a 1999 John Deere 410C BT14870 and Trailer BT16161 which the trade-in value is calculated into the cost, and
WHEREAS, this purchase has been approved by Fleet Management and at this time this equipment does not offer environmentally preferred fuel options, and

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Finance and Management be and is hereby authorized and directed to establish a purchase order with Nortrax Great Lakes Inc. for the purchase of one (1) John Deere 75D Excavator and Trailer for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage, in accordance with State of Ohio State Term Schedule Contracts STS778515U which expires on September 30, 2008 and STS7751500506 which expires on December 31, 2008.
Section 2. That the funding for this legislation is based on quotes dated March 7, 2008 and April 15, 2008 submitted by Nortrax Great Lakes Inc. and the quoted prices reflect State of Ohio contract pricing and is on file with the Purchasing Office.
Section 3. That the expenditure of $90,751.60 or so much thereof as may be needed, be and the same hereby is authorized from the Sewerage System Operating Fund, Fund No. 650, OCA 605089, Object Level 1: 06, Object Level 03: 6652.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
